The Vigilance System© monitors all patient and systems data in surgical settings and sends alerts and notifications to the clinician. This allows the clinician to focus on the critical information needed to make timely decisions with the greatest impact on desired outcomes. The system also provides checklists to assist the clinician in managing acute events.
The Vigilance System© visually integrates data derived from several sources, including patient monitors, electronic medical records, and operating room video cameras, and transmitting it to a computer worn by a mobile clinician. Thus, the clinician can view all critical physiologic and care process information for multiple patients in multiple locations. This unique feature of the Vigilance System© creates the unprecedented ability of the clinician to simultaneously optimize both the efficiency and safety of surgical care systems.
Current activities include the continued development and implementation of the Vigilance System© and testing of its application to a broad range of civilian and military surgical settings. It is also being used as a test bed for the continued exploration of other technology solutions for surgical patient safety.
