Hope Through Healing Hands (HTHH), a global health nonprofit organization founded by former US Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, MD, has awarded $10,000 to Vanderbilt International Anesthesia (VIA) to sponsor overseas training of anesthesiology residents and/or Kenyan Registered Nurse Anesthetists.
The overriding objective of VIA is to benefit the lives of others by sharing the professional medical skills and knowledge of the faculty, staff, and trainees of the Vanderbilt Department of Anesthesiology. An additional goal is to benefit ourselves by building positive relationships with those we serve and our colleagues working within the international community. The HTHH award is expected to fund residents’ travel and training of KRNAs during 2010.
Hope Through Healing Hands is a Nashville-based 501(c) (3) that promotes improved quality of life for citizens and communities around the world using health as a currency for peace. HTHH supports health students and residents to do service and training in underserved clinics around the world. Since 2004, Hope Through Healing Hands has donated more than $3 million to charities in both the United States and abroad. These charitable investments have been in support of infrastructure, education, healthcare, emergency relief, and access to general aid.
